Mums In Motion classes are designed for the specific needs of the expectant woman and new mum. Exercise always has physical and psychological advantages, but during pregnancy it can also help deal with the rigours of pregnancy and labor, and reduce post-natal recovery time. MIM classes aim to maintain and improve aerobic fitness and strengthen muscle groups affected by pregnancy, such as the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. They also include education on such things as back care, posture, and relaxation. Mums In Motion caters for all stages of pregnancy, and new mums are also welcome to continue with post-natal recovery.
Our classees are run by Back In Motion Physiotherapists with a special interest in women's health and well being who are highly trained to know what is safe exercise during pregnancy, and take into account all the physiological and mechanical changes taking place in your body during pregnancy. It can be dangerous to overheat or overstress any area of your body while exercising, so our physiotherapist-supervised classes are the safest during this important stage of your life $1 Donation goes to Sids and Kids per class purchased
Mums in Motion have a special affiliation with Sids and Kids and will donate $1 from each class that you purchase to Sids and Kids so they can continue to:
- Support the parents of around 65,000 new babies born each year in Victoria
- Support approximately 400 families whose child has died suddenly and unexpectedly
- Educate new parents about safe sleeping environments for babies, to help reduce the incidence of SIDS
- Offer a 24 hour crisis help line staffed by counsellors and trained parentsupporters
- Provide outreach bereavement support by telephone, home visits and at our "lounge room" in Malvern
- Support families in all regions of Victoria, with offices in the Barwon and Grampian areas
