Lockdown 4.0

Published: June 2, 2021

The latest COVID situation in Victoria and subsequent lockdown has again placed a huge strain on Victorian's.

It is hard to know what is open, what is closed and what the rules are as there is a lof of grey area and interpretations around these restrictions.

What about Physio?

You are allowed to access care during this lockdown. This includes travelling more than 5km to access that care.

There are some caveats around this though. Following the lasts COVID-19 announcements, we are still open to help clients who require essential care where telehealth is not clinically appropriate.

What is essential care?

This is another grey area. But there are numerous examples in the DHHS release that note some examples of essential care. This includes:

- if treatment was to stop, would there be an increase in treatment needed? Or if treatment was stopped, would there be a referral to other services, including pharmacies for pain relief, doctors, surgeons, specialists or the hospital? For many people in pain, they may satisfy this criteria as there would likely be an increase in pain medication or increase in services needed to treat the problem.

- Is it routine care? Under the lockdown restrictions, routine care is not permitted. Routine care includes some of our group sessions where people exercise for wellness rather than injury or maintenance sessions that can be pushed back for a short period of time.

What do I do?

If you have an appointment, we will be in touch! We will talk through the options with you and decide the best course of treatment. If you have a new injury, referral from a specialsit or GP or have any questions, please call us and we can help direct you to the most appropriate course of management.

Our safety measures are still in place with continued efforts to clean and sanitise, maintain social distancing, and the wearing of face masks. If you are experiencing cold and flu-like symptoms, please stay home and reschedule your appointment. Alternatively, you can talk to a physio from home with our Telehealth service.

Please call us on 95801985 to discuss suitability for these restrictions.
