Our July News has landed!

Published: July 19, 2024

Welcome to our July Newsletter!

We hope that everyone is keeping warm and dry as we head into the winter months! For those lucky enough to have a break over the school holidays, we hope that you were able to rest, relax, recover, or get away to the ski slopes or to the warm beaches in QLD or overseas! A lot of sport also starts back up again after the break as players and teams push towards finals.

Winter is obviously a time with lots of colds and flus, low mood and winter cravings. Check out the link below to see why it is important to remain active in the winter months. It doesn't matter if you are younger or older, active or not - it is the perfect time to start and keeping the winter blues away.

Our physiotherapist, Vincent, has created a couple of quick videos with some taping techniques that you can do at home if you have an injury.

Last month, we shared a video of Vincent taping the knee. This time, we have taping of the ankle. This can be used if you have some ankle instability or pain from rolling the ankle, however, please note, that there are many ways to tape the ankle - and so while this is appropriate for some conditions, it is not appropriate or the best choice for all ankle conditions and injuries. It is always best to have an assessment with a physiotherapist to see if this would be appropriate.

Taping, it is important that if the tape makes the skin red or itchy to take it off straight away. You can generally shower with the tape on (and pat dry afterwards) and leave on for a couple of days (in the acute stage) or for the event (if taping to get through a game and reduce the risk of injury). Of course, you should always have your injury assessed first to ensure that this tape is correct for you and that any return to your normal activities is advisable at that particular time. If there are any questions, always please contact us on 95801985 or book an appointment below.
