Relaxation vs Remedial Massage: What’s Best for You? | Back in Motion Campbelltown

Published: July 14, 2025

Looking for a massage in Campbelltown and not sure whether you need a relaxation massage or remedial massage? At Back in Motion Campbelltown, we offer both options, tailored to your needs—whether you're after stress relief or treatment for muscle pain. Here’s how to choose the right massage for your goals.

Relaxation massage

Relaxation massages are more than just pampering. They are aimed at:

  • Relieving muscle tension caused by daily life;
  • Reducing stress and cortisol levels;
  • Boosting circulation and overall wellbeing; and
  • Supporting better sleep by calming the nervous system

Our relaxation massages take place in our massage room within the clinic, which means that if our massage therapist recommends physiotherapy treatment to enhance your massage outcomes (or vice versa), your treatment can all take place in the same, familiar location.

We have several oils to choose from for your relaxation massage including Calm, Relax, Sport and an unscented oil.

Remedial massage

Using their extensive knowledge of the human body and their combined experience, most of our physiotherapists are also trained in remedial massage.

Remedial massage can be a great addition to your rehab or treatment plan. Our physios can tailor the specificity and intensity of your remedial massage to directly target your individual injury, aches or pains.

For your remedial massage, you can choose from our range of oils, or creams including Premax massage lotion and Fisiocrem.

So you’ve chosen your massage type, how long should you book for?

When you book your massage with us, you’ll have a couple lengths to choose from. If you’re booking a relaxation massage, you can choose from a 30 minute or a 50 minute length, and if you’re booking a remedial massage, you can choose from a 20 minute or a 40 minute massage.

The length of your massage will determine how many areas your therapist can target. Generally speaking, a 20 or 30 minute length will allow for one location and the surrounding area to be targeted, and a 40 or 50 minute length will allow for a couple separate areas to be targeted, for example, your neck and legs.

If you’d like to book in a massage with us, or you’d like some more information, give us a call on 8365 7966 or book online here. We’d love to hear from you!
