If you wish to get in touch directly, we can be reached at mountbarker@backinmotion.com.au.

TELEHEALTH

We have launched Telehealth, a Physio online service to provide Physiotherapy consultations over video chat.

Even before the impact of COVID-19, there has been a growing consumer demand for access to video-consultation services provided by Physiotherapists. Given the COVID-19 virus’ impact, we are discounting our standard fees for Telehealth appointments to ensure our clients don’t fall behind in their treatment.

To access this service, you will simply need a computer or smart device with an internet connection and camera. We will send you a text message with a secure ID login and access to a private video consultation with your preferred Physio. We’re here to help you on your journey to recovery to get you moving again, whether that be in a practice, or via video if you can’t get to a practice.

How To Book:

  • 1. Simply call Back In Motion Mount Barker on (08) 8391 3377
  • 2. Book in a time for your consultation which can be short, medium or long depending on your situation.
  • 3. Once you have made your booking, payment can be made over the phone.
  • 4. You will be provided with a unique meeting ID. At your allocated appointment time, enter this ID into the field below.

  • 5. Click 'Join Consultation' to be connected to your Physio.

Tip: Don't forget to check your video and microphone are working prior to your appointment to ensure a smooth consultation.

Our Practice

Who we are

We provide physiotherapy, massage, Clinical Exercise, and exercise and rehab to Mount Barker and surrounding suburbs. We have one-on-one and semi-private classes and because our services are delivered by physiotherapists you can claim them on private health insurance with extras cover.

Why we're different

A "quick-fix" for your pain or injury might sound good, but over time is proven to be inconvenient, costly and ineffective in comparison to taking preventative measures. Our unique clinical approach, Results4Life, keeps you on track towards optimal lifelong physical health.

Our guarantee

We are committed to your satisfaction and delivering the very best in physiotherapy care, customer service and outcomes. If you are not 100% satisfied with your experience at Back In Motion, we will refund your money on your last session and deliver your next session free.

Our Service Offering

Physiotherapy

Whether you have back pain, neck pain, flexibility or mobility issues, our physios at Back In Motion can help resolve your pain and improve the quality of your life.

Find out why physiotherapy is a GP's most recommended health professional today.

What can Back In Motion physio do for me?

We'll use the latest clinical research and physio equipment to develop a personal treatment plan to help you recover for your specific condition.

You don’t need a GP's referral to see a physio, and often we'll work as part of a team to plan and manage treatment for your specific condition or injury.

How will a Back In Motion physio assess my injury?

We'll assess your condition to diagnose the problem and focus on how to help you heal with tangible tools like Results4Life®

What sort of treatments do Back In Motion physios use?

Treatments include:

- Exercise prescription
- Postural analysis and correction
- Soft tissue massage/mobilization
- Dry needling
- Management of lifestyle issues such as desk set up, pillow and gym programs
- Prescription of aids such as crutches, orthotics and braces

What else does Back In Motion offer?

We’re a one-stop shop for allied health, and also offer related health services such as clinical/reformer Clinical Exercise, remedial massage, exercise rehab and more.

We work in partnership with you to identify how we can resolve your pain and condition, and then how to heal you and get you stronger to ensure it does not happen again.

Exercise and Rehab

Whether you have lower back pain, neck pain or a shoulder injury, exercise rehabilitation can help. Our exercise programs can help with increasing fitness, weight loss, injury rehabilitation, endurance training or strengthening, in a safe way that minimises risk of injury.

Our qualified staff use the latest clinical research and physio equipment to develop a personal exercise plan to help you improve flexibility, mobility, and strength.

Vibration Therapy

We offer side-alternating, high frequency vibration therapy using a vibration platform. You can experience results not only as treatment for an existing health concern but as a preventative measure for a diverse range of health issues including back pain, falls prevention, core strength, and elite performance.

Custom Orthotics

When a small problem develops in your feet, a subtle change in the way you walk can cause a chain reaction that alters your posture and movement mechanics. The symptom of poor foot mechanics can include localised foot pain, bunions, arch or heel pain, leg or knee pain, hip or back pain – and even neck pain. Custom orthotics have been shown to correct these issues, giving you improved balance, posture, and general wellbeing.

Shockwave Therapy

Whether you have plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow or an injury that won’t heal, shockwave therapy can help.

Shockwave therapy – also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) – is a non-invasive therapy that uses low-frequency, acoustic shockwaves generated via a handheld device that kick starts the body’s natural healing response in tissue that may not have responded to medication, rest or other therapies.

If you have tried rest, medications, other therapies or even steroid injections to overcome the  injury, and are now considering surgery, then Shockwave Therapy could be a good option for you.

Up to 92% of patients report significant improvement in their tendon pain after a course of shockwave therapy.

Find out more about Shockwave Therapy at Back In Motion

Dry needling

Whether you have back pain, neck pain or other musculoskeletal injuries, dry needling with acupuncture needles can be an effective part of your treatment plan.

Dry needling can help reduce muscle tension and pain levels and trigger a healing response in injured tissues within the body. As opposed to acupuncture, dry needling works directly on the injured body part, not meridian or energy flows.

GaitScan® Assessment

Back In Motion’s scientific GaitScan® assessment technology allows your physio to closely analyse your foot mechanics. This is done by measuring timing sequences, mapping foot pressure and providing an in-depth visual report that you can take home.

Using GaitScan®, your Back In Motion physiotherapist can then determine whether faulty foot function is the cause of your discomfort and whether custom orthotics will benefit you. If so, the results of your assessment are used to create customer orthotics moulded and manufactured specifically for your needs.

Semi-Private Exercise and Rehab

If you're looking for an alternative to Clinical Exercise, you might like to explore semi-private exercise classes. These classes take no more than four participants which means you'll get lots of attention from the physio instructing the class. In a semi-private exercise class you'll undertake a supervised, full training program which will address any concerns you may have in regards to exercise technique, motivation, accountability and exercise progression.

Semi-Private Clinical Exercise

Once you have completed a prescribed series of one-on-one Clinical Exercise sessions, your physio may recommend you commence semi-private Clinical Exercise classes. These classes have a maximum of five participants. You'll receive guidance and attention from the physiotherapist instructing the class in accordance with your individual Clinical Exercise program. Your program may include a combination of mat and reformer work.

Greg Goh

Practice Director and Physiotherapist

Greg is one of our Practice Directors and has been since 2014.

Born in Malaysia, he and his family migrated to Australia when he was just 1.5 years old.

Greg always loved sport and was subject to many injuries over the years; he combined this and his desire to help better and decided that physio would be a perfect fit. He completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at UNISA and graduated in 2011.

Since graduating he has attended many short courses including dry needling, concussion and GLA:D just to name a few. From these his particular interested lie in neck and head ache treatment, concussion management, vertigo and dizziness assessment and treatment. He’s a great pilates teacher and always has a challenge up his sleeve.

Outside of work he is spending time with his family and friends, reading and playing music. He’s also a bit of a food lover and loves Asian and Italian food in particular!

Greg is always our test dummy for exercise challenges, he enjoys calisthenics based exercise which is mostly body weight but very challenging! When it comes to sport he is another NBA fan and enjoys watching tennis.

Jeremy Hobbs

Practice Director and Physiotherapist

Jeremy is one of our Practice Directors and actually opened the clinic in Mount Barker in 2007. He is now only treating on a part-time basis Tuesday – Thursday here at and working on some other projects on the other days.

Jeremy was born and bred in Adelaide, he loved science and sport at high school and thought he would combine these two passions into a career in Physiotherapy.

The most experienced (and oldest) Physiotherapist in our Clinic, he has a few qualifications up his sleeve. These include an Undergraduate in 1998 from UNISA, Masters in 2005 from UNISA and he is currently working on his fellowship with the Australia College of Physiotherapists; for which he is eligible for completion in 2024.

Along with these titles he has done many, many short courses along the way in a variety of areas of interests. If you ask any of our Physiotherapists, Jeremy is our go-to for complex Shoulder problems and is well known for treating these. He is particularly interested in complex cases in any area of the body and is passionate in mentoring not only Physiotherapists in our clinic, but others in the industry too. A career highlight was working as a consulting Physiotherapist and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Outside of work he is busy enjoying juggling family life but sometimes manages to squeeze in some basketball (watching/coaching/playing), great food (Indian is a must), wine and whisky. His favourite sports teams are the Adelaide Crows and the Chicago Bulls (NBA) but he would happily sit there and watch most forms of sport.

His favourite form of exercise is going (or pretending to go) to the gym.

Catrin (Cat) Thomas

Physiotherapist (Clinical Supervisor)

If you have met Cat you would know she has an accent – contrary to some guesses (she’s not from America, Canada, England, South Africa) she is from Anglesey, North Wales (UK)!

She wanted to become a Physio because her Mam (Mum) was a Nurse and Cat wanted to help people too. She completed her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy at the University of Salford in the UK in 2007. She moved to Australia to join our team in 2013 and has been a loved and trusted member ever since. She has completed many short courses since graduating including Dry Needling, Manual Concepts spinal manual therapy and many others related to strength, rehab and fitness.

She has a particular passion in movement analysis and how we can use this information to structure and re-assess throughout a rehab program and improve movement quality. She enjoys treating the back, neck, and lower half of the body.

Outside of work you’ll find her spending time with her partner, facetiming with her Family back home, reading, watching movies, catching up with friends and moving heavy weights in the gym. She lives on property so her weekends can often be filled with work that needs doing on the farm. Cat is also very creative and loves her art, she channels this passion (when time allows) into ceramics, singing and other art projects.

Her favourite food is eggs benedict with bacon and she loves watching Rugby Union in Wales and MotoGP.

Physiotherapist (Clinical Services Coordinator) Currently on Maternity Leave

Jade is born and bred in the Adelaide Hills, she now comes to us from the edge of the Adelaide Hills and Barossa and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Playing sport growing up and enjoying PE and Biology the most in high school she decided to apply for Physiotherapy thinking this would be the career that combined her two passions. She went straight from school into a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at UNISA, graduating in 2015. After working in aged care and Private practice she joined us here at Back in Motion at the start of 2018.

Since graduating she has completed short courses in Pilates, Dry Needling and Level 1 Women’s Health. She enjoys working with all types of patients but particularly kids, teens and pre and post natal and hopes to further her skills in Women’s Health.

Outside of work you will find her chasing after her little boy, working on projects around her new property, playing netball and spending time with friends and family. She enjoys walking (with the pram these days), having a hit of tennis and doing short home work outs that she can fit between naps (mum life).

Her favourite food is anything she hasn’t had to cook herself – we hear her husband is a mean cook and does most of the cooking! (Lucky!)

She follows the Adelaide Crows and enjoys watching SSN (Netball) when she can.

Krupa joined our Practice in 2021, originally from India she completed her Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy while in India before moving to Australia to complete her Masters in Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy at UNISA in 2019.

Krupa wanted studied Physiotherapy because she saw how much it helped her Grandad in his recovery following a burn injury. She had an general interest in the Medical field and Physiotherapy was her preferred option. She hopes to further her knowledge in the space of Women’s Health in the future and possibly study more through the Curtin University in this space.

On her days off you’ll likely find her hiking, doing Yoga, shopping (self-confessed, unnecessarily), dancing, watching Netflix and chilling with friends. Her favourite foods are anything Inidian or Italian.

She’s not a great lover of watching sport – but if she had too, it would likely be Soccer.

Aniket has recently joined our team and is a new Graduate from Flinders University, finishing his Masters of Physiotherapy degree in 2022.

Born in India, he moved to Australia when he was just 1 year old. He has always had an interest in science and sport and felt Physiotherapy would be a good way to combine the two. He enjoys working with the sporting community and was a Sports Trainer for the South Adelaide Panthers Football Club during his study.

Outside of work and study Aniket enjoys spending time with friends, playing sport and having a drink, but also enjoys his down time indoors playing videogames and watching tv shows with his favourite food – Nasi Goreng.

In terms of sport, he likes watching volleyball and occasionally AFL or soccer. You can also find him in the gym moving weights for some strength training.

She is passionate about helping people lead more meaningful lives and gets satisfaction from seeing people recover from their injuries and illnesses.

In the future, Poonam would like to learn further through a Master of Physiotherapy in Sports and Musculoskeletal. She enjoys treating and working with shoulder and knee problems.

Outside of work you’ll find her at the park with her Husband and Daughter and exploring their new home in South Australia. She prefers walking as her favourite form of exercise and loves eating Idli Sambhar (South Indian Food). She also likes watching the cricket when she can.

Mackenzie was born in Goa, India, and holds pride in his Luso-Indian ethnicity. He completed his Master's in Advanced Sports Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia and has just finished his program in 2022.

Having suffered major injuries through his sports career, Mac has had the chance to be both a therapist and a patient, and he has developed a distinct experience of both the mental and physical components of Physiotherapy and has used that to help his patients reach their goals.

Mackenzie spent three years working in Intensive care cardiac physiotherapy, sports physiotherapy, working with soccer teams, and sharpening his skills in private practice.

Outside of work, Mac loves a good hike and a classic scotch and refuses to specify if he means those separately or together. He's a very passionate sports fan and lives and breathes everything sports. If there are two things he can't live without, it's his wife, Malsha, and the Arsenal football club. So if you see him with a few dark circles on a Monday morning, he was probably (most likely) up.

Stacey Bannister

Practice Manager

Stacey is another born and raised Adelaide Hills team member, she started in a Support Staff role and is now our Practice Manager. She has a Cert 3 in Children Services and previously worked as a Nanny for 6 years. This comes in handy on the odd occasion when our patients need an extra hand settling a baby while they have treatment.

Stacey relishes in the challenges each day working in a Physiotherapy practice may throw at her and problem solving to overcome these, she also enjoys building relationships with our amazing clients.

Outside of work you’ll find her out for breaky, spending time with family and friends and looking after her beautiful little girl Hallie. But don’t forget the big of her life – the Collingwood Magpies, she rarely misses a game on TV and tries to get to Adelaide Oval when they play here.

Stacey is a self-confessed sweet tooth and enjoys chocolate and cake – she’s always happy when there is a birthday to celebrate at work and is designated the ‘cake cutter’ thanks to her time spent working at children’s party’s fresh out of school.

Walking and strength classes at the gym is her preferred form of exercise (as long as there’s no burpees.)

Courtney came to us from Victoria, she grew up in Geelong. She used to work in hospitality and can apparently make a mean coffee (we’d love to be taste testers)!

Courtney wanted to work in a Physiotherapy practice because she herself is actually studying to be a Physio! She already has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne (focus on Neuroscience) and is currently studying a Masters in Physiotherapy. Once she is qualified, she hopes to work in the Women’s Health Physiotherapy space.

She really enjoys working in customer service and interacting with so many different people, she loves warmly welcoming people into our practice and getting to know them.

On the weekends she is exploring her new home, South Australia and you may even find her in a Clinical Exercise class focusing on Pilates on her day off. She also tries to get back to Geelong when she can to spend some quality time with her family.

Her Favourite food is 100% chocolate, she has self-confessed that she cannot go a day without it!

Being from Geelong, she can’t go past supporting the AFL Geelong Footy Club and loves getting to a game when she can.

Angela (or Ange) is very much a local, she grew up in Hahndorf and know many of our patients personally, this may be because she used to be a hair dresser locally! She still does a little bit of hairdressing here and there but is a valued member of our support staff.

Angela has also studied (too long ago to mention) a Cert 4 in training and competency which she has used through out her career. In her spare time she is watching her family at Softball, going to the Horse Races, watching footy (the Adelaide Crows) and going for long walks with her dog.

She loves Italian food and her favourite way to exercise is walking and pilates, she even she even has her own reformer!

Liz is another born and raised Adelaide Hills team member and has lived in Mount Barker for the last 23 years. She has previously work in hospitality and most recently retail. She has some further education with a secretarial diploma (her touch typing is flawless) and is a wealth of knowledge in the clothing, textile and design realm. She is a keen gardener and is interested in personal health and fitness and is constantly learning in this space.

She enjoys working in a team environment, being able to help people and seeing people who achieve positive outcomes.

On her weekends and days off, you’ll most likely find Liz in her garden, spending time with her granddaughters, going to the gym and balancing that with a winery visit. When she can she’ll also sneak over to the York Peninsula for a little getaway.

Liz loves all types of food but if she had to choose it would be Asian Fusion.

A lover of many sports Liz played netball for many years and still enjoys watching it, she follows Glenelg in SANFL, Crows in the AFL and loves watching anything in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games when they come around.
