At Back in Motion Blackwood, we offer Clinical Exercise - a form of Clinical Exercise that takes tailored approach to your treatment and individual needs.
What’s the difference between Clinical Exercise and gym-based Clinical Exercise?
Most gyms now hold regular Clinical Exercise classes which focus on core strength, flexibility and balance. For individuals seeking rehabilitation and for long-term management to be successful, it is imperative that the cause of the problem is dealt with, not just the symptoms.
Prior to starting a Clinical Exercise class, your physio will complete an assessment to understand your wellbeing and needs - from physical factors such as strength, flexibility, balance to lifestyle and psychological factors that may be contributing to your concern.
Clinical Exercise focuses on rehabilitation, long-term maintenance and injury prevention and uses a combination of equipment such as reformers, barrels and trapeze tables as well as mat work depending on your needs.
What is Clinical Exercise useful for?
Clinical Exercise can be useful for a large variety of individuals; from an elite athlete to a pre or post-natal mother. However following a generalised program that doesn’t account for your particular concerns for example; an athlete’s chronic knee injury compared to a new mother with back and neck issues, can put you at further risk or re-aggravation of an existing condition. In Clinical Exercise, your physio will understand and tailor a program that considers your history and unique personal needs.
Change the way you move!
Technique is an important part of how you move and exercise. Clients with persistent pain often have muscle imbalances due to the way they have moved over a period of time, especially when fatigued, or due to repetitive, sustained and loaded activities.
The way we move is habitual, however as each class (small class size with 4-6 clients) is closely monitored, your physio can assist and educate you on correct exercise technique within the session itself. The smaller class sizes also allow your physio to modify your exercise program as needed depending on how quickly you progress or whether your Clinical Exercise goals change due to that recently booked adventure holiday, cricket season starting, or a new baby on the way.
