Preparation is key

Finally, gear up for the season ahead; the last part in the off season tip series.

Before anything else, preparation is the key to success- Alexander Graham Bell

Who doesn’t want that extra edge in their chosen activity, that little 5% over your opponent that can mean winning or losing. Being prepared is the tip that ties this series together. When that call for the first pre-season comes around you will be that step ahead of the rest putting you in a better state for the season ahead.

We have all seen those pre-season injuries, pinging a hamstring on the first sprint or even the stories of people being unable to walk for days after the first run. Preparing your body for pre-season by staying active and healthy is critical to reducing the risk of injury.

At Blackwood we suggest in the off season starting a movement based exercise program such as Clinical Exercise. Clinical Exercise will keep you moving and work on the control of movement that is critical to performance.

The last tip in gearing up is make sure all your equipment is checked and ready for the season! Having quality equipment, like supportive shoes or new tyres on the bike, can make a big difference in maximising your performance for the up-coming season!
