Take a mental break from competition!
Competitive sport can place a large amount of stress on you such as performance levels, successes and especially failures. The off season is the perfect time to take a break from all of that and concentrate on all the things that can be missed during the season.
For example, I’m sure we have all heard about people being either an introvert or extravert. Identifying this for yourself is a great way to plan your activities to best recharge your batteries. In the off season you can find time for other hobbies, social activities and spending time with family and friends. Extraverts may chose more outgoing activities whereas an introvert may chose the quieter activities. We’re all different! Identify what works best for you and plan to your strengths.
Which leads me to the suggestion of plan your weekends/time off. There is nothing worse than getting to your weekend and having either too much to do and you can’t enjoy it or spending the valuable time off deciding what to do! Plan physical activates, go for a walk, sit in the hammock or tend to the garden and make sure you enjoy that sunshine… Just remember to slip slop slap! Some great ideas include walking around the Wittunga Botanical Gardens, heading to the beach for a dip or dusting off the bike and adventuring through Blackwood’s amazing mountain bike trails.
