What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists are university trained, allied health professionals who design and deliver safe and effective exercise interventions for the preventions and management of a range of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, metabolic, neurologic, cancer, pain and mental health conditions.

They can also provide advanced health and physical activity education, advice and support to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

Why choose us for your Exercise Physiology needs?

At Back In Motion we aim to provide the most up to date evidence-based exercise physiology services. Exercise Physiology can have an incredible impact on your recovery and your ability to achieve your health goals sooner. We can complete real-time assessments using our VALD strength and movement testing system, to make a more accurate assessment then design an individualised training program to achieve superior results. We are able to meet all your specific needs by designing services backed by our unique Results4Life® philosophy.

Who would benefit from Exercise Physiology treatment?

Everyone can benefit from exercise physiology treatment. If you are living with a chronic condition, injury or illness, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist is the best person to help you get moving again. They understand the challenges involved and will work with you (and your doctor) to prescribe safe and effective exercise interventions.

Exercise Physiologists have a comprehensive understanding of the human body and exercise principles so we can also help if you are healthy and simply want a safe and effective exercise program to keep you fit, moving well and feeling great.

Exercise Physiology or Physiotherapy – what is the difference?

Exercise Physiology is sometimes confused with Physiotherapy.  Whilst we may offer many of the same services there are some distinct differences. Similar to Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists can provide treatments for muscle and joint problems however, Exercise Physiologists can also provide treatment for chronic conditions such as diabetes and cancer, that are not traditionally treated by Physiotherapists.

Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?

No, you do not need a referral! You can book in for an initial assessment to see how one of our Accredited Exercise Physiologists can help you. Please note a GP referral is required if you are being seen under an EPC plan, DVA, TAC or Work-Cover scheme.

Private health insurance rebates may apply for exercise physiology services, please contact your health fund for details.
