August is Tradies National Health Month - a great initiative that helps to recognise the health risks that are associated with those whp wprk in trade occupations - among themselves, families, employers and the wider community.
Why?
Because 3 in 5 workers compensations claims comes from a worker from a trade occupation - but tradies make up less than 30% of the entire workforce. This highlights that there is a greater risk of injury for Tradies - whether that is the type of work, the mentality of 'just getting work done' or a combination of both.
So - what can be done?
The answer is lots!
Onsite work assessments from a physio, seminars and health talks, greater signage or training regarding manual handling or starting a stretching or strengthening program to be completed daily before work. Given out proximity to Braeside and Dandenong South, we are closely linked to many factories, work-places and employers and provide onsite physiotherapy twice a week to help prevent and manage injuries for employees.
