It is very common to hear from people that the cold weather makes their arthritic joints and injuries ache more. While there is no specific research that finds a direct link, there has been a correlation between cold weather behaviour and the management of these conditions.
For example, during winter we are more inclined to sit inside and less inclined to be out and exercising. In addition, reduced daylight hours may also impact exercise and mood, so it is important to be aware of behaviours that may impact health over winter time.
Ideas:
- Try and get outside at lunch time to see some daylight
- Stay hydrated
- Keep moving! Wear warm clothes so that you can go outside to go for a walk
- Try other forms of exercise indoors if the weather is too dark, cold or wet to go outside
It is always important to remember that if you are experiencing NEW pain that the injury may have progressed or is different from your original injury. Please speak with our team if you need further assessment to help better mange your condition. You can call us on 95801985 or book online here.
