January Newsletter

Welcome to 2025!

We hope that you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year! But just as quickly as it came, it has disappeared and we are now in the middle of January!

Hopefully everyone had some time off to enjoy the sun and be with family and friends. As we embark on the rest of January and February, please keep a look out for everyone on the hot days. Remember to drink plenty of water, stay in the shade, slip-slop-slap and look after your furry friends!

Check out this Sports Medicine Australia link on exercising in the heat!

Everything in Moderation

The new year, and rightly or wrongly, resolutions are on everyone's list. Many are trying to get fitter, more active and healthier. This is a fantastic goal and will yield many benefits.

However, please be smart about your training. Too much too soon can lead to injury and can derail the best intentions. Progressing at no more than 10% per week is an easy way to monitor progress, and structuring rest days into your program will help reduce the risk of injury and keep you away from the physio and keep you out on the park!

Archies and Foot Pain!

With summer well and truly upon us, we commonly see people presenting with Plantar Fasciitis and other foot complaints. A big part of this is doing a lot of walking without any footwear, or in poor footwear. That is where ARCHIES come in!

They are designed by a physio and whilst looking like Havaiana's they are much more supportive in the arch. You can check out their website here or come into the practice this week to try them on for yourself!

Does Tennis cause Tennis Elbow?

Tennis Elbow is a common elbow complaint - that isn't always associated with Tennis. In fact Tennis players can get golfer's elbow and golfer's can get tennis elbow! But with the Australian Open going to be run and won this week, it is a common question we get in clinic. So read on here to find out more about Tennis Elbow.
