Men’s Health
Men’s Health Physiotherapy is aimed at men any time of their lives. Our men’s health physios are specially trained at post-graduate level, meaning you will receive the best possible assessment and treatment whatever your concern.
Our men’s health physiotherapist can help, and treat specific issues including:
- Urinary incontinence: any leakage from your bladder can often be treated very successfully with the support of physio. This may include bladder training, pelvic floor strengthening and other treatment strategies. Urinary incontinence is often a problem after prostate surgery so it is important that men have both pre and post op physio to ensure good pelvic floor muscle strength as well as good bladder habits.
- Erectile dysfunction: Forty percent of West Australian men experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is best placed to help manage this through strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles as well as advice surrounding devices like pumps. We also have a focused Shockwave machine which can help treat vascular erectile dysfunction as an adjunct to pelvic floor strengthening. Many people travel internationally for this treatment, but now we have it in Perth.
- Pelvic pain: pain anywhere around the pelvis, lower back and hips as well as conditions such as pudendal neuralgia. Pain could also be associated with sexual intercourse such as ejaculatory pain.
Most, but not all conditions are treated with pelvic floor rehabilitation and exercises. Everyone is unique and our Men's Health Physiotherapist will assess and develop an individual treatment plan. Our Men’s Health Physiotherapist is passionate about the health of men and believes that anyone can overcome their pelvic health issues as part of a whole person health approach with the correct guidance and treatment. We want to empower men so that their incontinence or pelvic pain isn’t a private problem they have to suffer with alone or share with everyone.
