Women’s Health Physiotherapy – What is it?
Women’s Health Physiotherapy involves physiotherapy services for women specific conditions/concerns throughout the lifespan.
What can these include?
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Incontinence – urinary (stress and urge) and faecal
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Vaginismus (pain during intercourse)
- Musculoskeletal conditions pre and postnatally (SIJ, lower back, pelvic pain, hip pain)
- Exercise pre and postnatally
- Diastasis Recti (DRAM) – tummy muscle separation pre/postnatally
- Mastitis
A physiotherapist who has undergone specific training in Women’s Health can, if required, assess the pelvic floor with an internal examination. At our Rosny Park practice, Jess Garlick has completed further training and conducts Women’s Health physiotherapy consultations.
If you have any questions about the above or are not sure if physiotherapy can help, some and see Jess for a Free Initial Assessment where she can have a discussion with you and help decide if physiotherapy will be appropriate.
Keep an eye out for more blog posts which will expand on the Women’s Health conditions.
