Why do I need to see a physio during pre-season?

Why do I need to see a physio during pre-season?

We caught up with our physio Jamie who plays for the Dodges Ferry Sharks. In the midst of pre-season and some injuries of his own, he has some advice for those currently undertaking pre-season training.

As we are approaching round 1 for various winter sports, pre-season has been long and arduous and I'm sure I am not the only one who is already carrying a few aches and pains before the first ball is even bounced. Whether it be the ankle pain that just doesn't seem to be improving, or the shoulder that stops you from doing heavy work in the gym, intervention from a physio sooner rather than later can be the difference between playing round 1 or not, or “just dealing with the pain” or feeling fresh and ready for anything.

The competitive season can be anywhere up to 7-8 months long with minimal time for rest or recovery, and if these issues aren't effectively diagnosed and treated early they can drastically impact your entire season by reducing training tolerance, painful post game recovery sessions and overall a reduced athletic performance.

So if you are having any of these niggling issues, I would encourage you to call and book in for a Free Initial Assessment with one of our physios who will then be able to recommend and provide the best course of treatment, training modifications, load management in order to have you back on track for a successful season.

Ps. Go Sharks!
