Cheng shares his journey to directorship below:
My Back In Motion journey has been a relatively long one. I graduated from Melbourne Uni in 2004. I started working as a Clinical Associate at Back In Motion Seaford (now Carrum Downs) in 2006 and then an opportunity arose where I was offered the role of Clinical Supervisor by Matthew and Nicole Tayler at Back In Motion Patterson Lakes in 2008. They had purchased the practice from my former Back In Motion Seaford (Carrum Downs) director. After spending about four years in the Clinical Supervisor role at Patterson Lakes and having the privilege of training and journeying with young developing physios another opportunity arose when Matthew and Nicole purchased Tecoma. Matthew asked if I was interested in being Principal at Tecoma in 2012. I thought this would be a worthwhile opportunity to assess if I had what it takes to oversee a practice and manage a small team and maybe in time seek directorship. The rest is history.
I'm grateful for Back In Motion and my previous directors for opening different pathways for me and allowing me to see the ins and outs of a private physiotherapy practice. I guess I've walked both the Back In Motion Clinical and Business Pathways and believe that this is a strong testament to the career journey aspirations Back In Motion can provide to those that want it. Directorship will provide a further bird's eye view and there's much more exciting elements to learn.
It's great now to have the flexibility to help my clients attain goals and change lifetime behavioural habits as well as assisting a team of physios and admin staff to do the same.
Back In Motion Health Group has clear career pathways for our staff within the Group. Both clinical and non clinical staff who are passionate about our business encouraged to aspire to directorship.
