The deadlift is one of the best functional exercise to perform that targets the entire body. Contrary to many beliefs, it’s an absolutely great exercise to strengthen the lower back as a preventative measure but also for rehabilitation purposes. It targets the hamstrings, glutes and lower back extensors, as well as strengthening the core.
Deadlifts are great exercise for a wide variety of injuries from lower back, hips, knees and even shoulders (if performed correctly!) Modify the weight, reps and intensity to the individual, and you have one of the best exercises to perform. If you’re wanting to learn the technique and subtleties to performing the deadlift for different parts of the body, wanting to improve your global strength or wanting to use it as a means of rehabilitation from a variety of conditions then pop in to our clinic and have a chat with one of our physios to learn more about the exercise and how it can help you!
