Tanya Poppett Achieve_Balance Summer Workout Plan

With all the extra daylight we get during summer, it makes sense to take advantage of the longer days and escape the crowds at the gym by getting outside!

My ultimate summer workout is one that can be done any where at any time. No gym or equipment necessary.

Summer can be a very busy time of the year for a lot of us, which often keeps us from our usual workout routine. It is therefore important to have some workouts up your sleeve for when you are away from home or the gym.

Plus who wants to be indoors sweating it out when the sun is shining. It’s a great way to get some fresh air and vitamin D.

This workout is a great combination of cardio and resistance; elevating your heart rate, toning and strengthening your muscles whilst also burning a ton of calories.

My summer workout

Complete 2-4 sets of the following exercises:

  • 30 Mountain Climbers
  • 10 squat jumps
  • 20 Walking planks
  • 20 Walking lunges
  • 4 x 30m sprint

Technique

It’s important to make sure that you use correct technique when doing any sort of exercise, so for this summer workout I’ve given you some tips on how to do it right!

All exercises

Keep your body strong and core engaged throughout each movement. It is important to make a conscious effort to activate your muscles to ensure good form and prevent injuries.

Jumping squats

When performing squat jumps (or any other jumping exercises) try to land light on your feet and sink into the squat on the way down to help reduce the shock on your joints as you land.

Walking planks

Walking planks begin in full plank position (on hands), taking lateral steps with both hands and feet. Take 10 to the left and then 10 to the right. Keep your spine in a neutral position, trying not to let the hips sink or rise, core is engaged is strong.

Walking Lunges

When performing walking lunges it is important not to let the front foot go over the toes. You will need a strong core and glute muscles to help maintain form and balance.

And there you have it, my ultimate summer workout. Try it out and let me know how you go!
